1. Introduction of FTS

    FTS(Flexible Transmission Shaft) is the special mechanical component of flexible hollow shafts which can transmit the rotating torque freely in any bent condition as shown in the picture below.

    FTS, being of simple structure as shown above, bears unlimited potential for application in overall machinery industry as a substitute for existing complicate flexible power transmission devices (such as flexible coupling & Universal Joint), which have many limitations in performances and application

There have been two types of flexible shafts. They have been used to limited applications of small power transmission such as hand tools.

One is made of elastic materials in the form of long and fine rod like fishing rod to withstand small bending angle and torsional force. The other is manufactured by winding thin steel wires in multiple layers in thread form like springs. Though this allow more flexibility than the aforementioned fishing rod type, it can also transmit only small torsional force. .

Unlike the flexible shaft described above, the FTS system is capable of transferring high level of power, while securing considerable flexibility.

This is why the FTS is named as FTS, emphasizing the outstanding characteristic of power transmission, rather than a simple FS. .
