2. Principle of FTS

 ① Processing of the basic teeth-shaped slit

The FTS basic slit is formed by processing a corrugated teeth shape groove into hollow, pipe-shaped shafts by cutting pipe wall in the circumferential direction, as illustrated in the picture below

The two pipes pieces formed from the cutting process, are not separated from each other, just like zipper teeth and can form a small loose gap formed from the width of the cut groove. This allows the cut pieces can deliver torque in small bending angle while interlocking with each other. This is the key principle of the two FTS pieces can deliver torque in bent condition.

 ② Repeated processing of basic slit

Though one basic slit can be bent in a small angle, the processing of multiple slits as many as required, enables the FTS to be bent to meet the requirements of various applications with succession of power transmission as shown bellow.
